Show Notes
Building Meaningful Relationships
-
He highlights authenticity as being a major contributor as to why people are so drawn to him. He is the exact same online as he is in-person.
-
With a strong positive attitude, he has the ability to laugh just about anything off and sees this as a choice he makes everyday because what you put out is what you get back.
Selling a Product vs. Selling a Service
-
Joining the John Barrows team has forced him to learn about how valuable his time is and how to filter who he gives it to.
-
In certain ways selling a service can be easier because you can package it in a way that will work for almost everyone. This can be tempting, but not the right move. You need to figure out when to say no to certain opportunities.
Finding the Time
-
Create systems, prioritize, and organize your day to get everything you want to get done.
-
Time management goes beyond blocking out your work day, schedule time for your personal improvement as well.
-
Even with systems in place you’ll have moments where you feel like you’re wasting your time, but it becomes easier to figure out what you should be doing instead.
-
Test out a bunch of different things and figure out what works best for you, then continue to adapt it.
Women Online
-
Women can be incredibly successful creating content, but hold back for a number of reasons including imposter syndrome, comments on looks, and inappropriate advances from men.
Personal Branding
-
Create a buzz around yourself, don’t assume that the branding has to do with the job that you have, because that’s not always the case.
-
Just make sure that what you’re doing is creating a positive impact. If you call attention to a problem you need to have a solution or suggested solutions, don’t just complain.
Dealing with Negativity
-
Constructive criticism and hate are very different, but respond to everything with positivity because there is a way to find empathy for the trolls.
Involvement with UNCrushed
-
UNCrushed is a nonprofit organization that’s mission is to remove and expose the stigma related to the mental health crisis in America.
-
No one is immune to mental health struggles, but we all still have to come to work and put a smile on our face and that can be incredibly taxing.
